Classic Canal Cruise

Discover the Göta Canal aboard the M/S Juno

This is our classic cruise between Gothenburg and Stockholm that we have proudly been operating since the very day our company was founded back in 1869. Over the course of four days, you’ll enjoy a journey on the famous Göta Canal aboard the M/S Juno; built in 1874, the M/S Juno today is the world’s oldest registered cruise ship with overnight accommodation. This cruise goes between Stockholm and Gothenburg, Sweden’s two biggest cities, each filled with countless sights and attractions. The route is entirely up to you: from Stockholm to Gothenburg or the other way around instead. Of course, full board with breakfast, lunch, and dinner on the ship is included.

Cruising down the picturesque canal on a classic boat like the M/S Juno will take you back in time to the leisurely way of travelling of the days of yore when the trip was just as important as the destination. In addition to presenting you with unforgettable views of the uniquely beautiful Swedish nature, our cruise also takes us though one of the culturally and historically richest parts of the country. To allow you to discover the many sights and attractions we pass along the way, the cruise includes various stops for land excursion. And it’s of course entirely up to you to join such a guided tour ashore or you prefer to stay aboard and relax with a drink on the bridge deck.

Attractions along the route

In addition to the beautiful scenery through which it passes, the Göta Canal is also famous for its various lock systems. During this cruise our boat passes two aqueducts and 66 remarkable locks. This includes several well-known examples of historical engineering ingenuity, such as the locks in Trollhättan, the famous lock staircase at Berg, and the canal's oldest lock in Forsvik. Those who want to see even more of Sweden can also join the optional guided tours to Karlsborg Fortress and Birka, the Viking City on Björkö Island in lake Mälaren.

This is included in the Classic Canal Cruise
